I need you to partner with me, to create a dynamic learning environment in my classroom, by helping me attend a MindSpark Conference: Building Resilient Classrooms with Social Emotional Awareness - in New Orleans, LA
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My Students are bright and eager to learn.
Even though I strive to provide innovative ways to help my students become life-long learners, there are many complex social issues that they have to constantly deal with, and often take their attention away from learning.
Many situations are often out of their control. My students attend a Title I public high school. All the students at my school receive free breakfast and lunch.
Most of my students live below the poverty line. Several of my students come from single-parent households and many from low-income households.
My goal for my classroom is to provide my students with unique learning opportunities in a safe environment. They also need the skills to adequately manage the many obstacles they encounter on a day to day basis. I am passionate about providing my students with more than just an education, they need the tools to empower them and carry them into a successful future. They need proactive ideas to help them manage the different distractions they encounter, along with positive learning experiences that will impact them for a lifetime. This conference will empower me to provide a safe & dynamic classroom for my students.
My Project
I am extremely passionate about bringing engagement and rigor to my classroom. But as an educator, I also need to provide the tools for teenagers to deal with the onset of issues this digital age bombards them with. This MindSpark conference will provide me with tools and ideas, so I can guide my students to make better choices, and I can support them with their social and emotional well-being. This conference is a two-day event full of strategies to better understand how to support my students with the skills they need to manage the complex situations they encounter daily. I will learn how to blend instructional practices with tools that encourage positive social interactions and healthy conflict resolution.
More than half of students from low‑income households
