My Project
Resources for teaching English as a Second Language
TEACH MY FOREIGN BABIES ENGLISH
Thanks for reading my project! I am the ESL Specialist and the ELD (English Language Development) Interventionist at a Title I Early Learning Center located in the International District of Houston. 73% of our babies are Emergent Bilingual, we have student’s whose first language is Spanish, Yorubu, Swahili, Vietnamese, Cambodian, French & Mandarin.
We are looking for resources to help develop their ABC’s, Numbers, Shapes, Vocabulary & Literacy in English to prepare them for Kinder. Our students are super eager to learn English and try their very best.
We will be using these materials, English Alphabet Books, an Alphabet Games Learning Tablet, Alphabet Sounds Picture Magnets, and Mini Rainbow Sentence Strips, when doing "Push-in Interventions" during Centers in each of the classrooms where we will be servicing our students who need interventions. Materials will be used around the whole school. Each student has different needs. Some need to improve their numbers, others learn their ABC's and shapes, and all have to develop their vocabulary.
The different resources will be used to tend to specific student's needs. All resources asked for align with the Pre-Schools Curriculum. Our main goal is to teach our ESL students to learn English and improve their academic knowledge. I say we, because these resources will be shared with our Special ED Interventionists as well as with any teacher in need of extra resources. Our common goal is too help our students be successful for next school year.
