My Students

My school is in the highest poverty area in our city. Most kindergarteners come to school without ever opening up a book. Breakfast and lunch are served to all students because this is where they will get their nutritious meals for the day.

Most come to school without the basic supplies so it is up to the teacher to supply pencils, folders, and copybooks.

The kids are great kids and just want to come to school to learn and escape the daily struggles they face in the neighborhood.

My Project

Wonder is one of the best books a child could read to help them understand compassion and kindness. It is a great book that has you going on a roller coaster of emotions.

Teaching kindness is so important these days.

In today's world where everyone is different, children need to realize and learn that everyone in the world is just as important than they are. The book Wonder teaches them about being compassionate to others and being kind to others. It opens your eyes to the world that is around you. It opens your eyes so one can see that not everyone is the same and that being different is ok.
