My Project
Our school includes over sixty percent free or reduced-price lunch recipients. Together our community, parents, and staff work to get us everything we need. I am so grateful to have wonderful people like you also partnering with us to help get our students everything they deserve.
Food Enterprise will learn how to read recipes, engage in the science of cooking, and properly measure and portion ingredients.
Currently, I'm new to this teaching position and committed to working hard to provide a variety of experiences for our students. I am teaching four sections of Food Enterprise classes at two different grade levels in our middle school. For the last several years, our middle school has not offered these classes. Fortunately, now, our district is able to bring these classes back for our students to have more learning opportunities and to teach some important skills in the kitchen.
My plan is to enhance their experience in the kitchen with the help of your donation. Our food lessons will incorporate reading, science, and math! Students will also learn kitchen safety and sanitation along with how to make simple snacks and meals. It is essential to provide our students with these learning opportunities to learn basic life skills in the kitchen. Students will also learn the cost of ingredients and understand how important portioning is. These learning experiences will leave a lasting impression on our students.
With the holidays around the corner, I plan to have my classes make holiday snacks for those in nursing homes and for elderly people who live alone. This will be a great way to give back to our local community. Thank you for investing in my classroom and my students!
