My Project
Attendance Bees is an attendance incentive program that I started last school year. "Be Present, Be On Time, & Behave = BUCKS." The goal is to increase student attendance while teaching students finance and how and why to save money. Students earn $1 in attendance bucks each day they come to school. Bucks can be used to purchase items from our Cougar Corner Store in which I also started last year as part of our incentive program. The store opens every other Friday and students accumulate bucks to buy items out of the store. Teachers teach finance themes the week the school store is open and students come into the store counting their own money from Pre-K - 8th grade. If they don't have enough to purchase an item from the store, then they learn how to save and the importance of saving their attendance bucks. The bucks encourages and motivate students to come to school while engaging them in the world of finance. The items will allow for students to make purchases from the store with their attendance bucks. The money is low and there isn't enough to continue to fund the store. This program has increased student attendance by 42% and increased math scores by at least 18%.
