I need to support (K-3) dual language teachers who teach reading and writing in Spanish with adequate resources! They need to be well equipped with the right materials and language appropriate tools!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Most of the students in our Dual Language Program come from new immigrant families and families that would like to learn Spanish and English. Our students are excited to learn two languages! They are excited to read authentic literature and books in which they can see themselves and reflect some of their experiences. They can benefit from teachers who are equipped with ELA strategies in Spanish & English.
Dual Language classes provide an opportunity to explore the diversity in their classes and around the city through reading.
Students are discovering their interests as readers and building their capacity to read in two languages.
My Project
This resource will strengthen our literacy work in Spanish. We have used this book in English and would love to continue to use these strategies in the Spanish dual language classes. Students will benefit from the academic vocabulary and visuals!
This book will help teachers align reading strategies with appropriate literacy units in Spanish.
They will have access to sample lessons and reading objectives in Spanish. This will support their dual language planning! This Spanish reading resource will place language and strategies at their fingertips.
By donating to this project, you will help support teachers who are building their teaching practice in Spanish. Students will benefit from stronger lessons and strategies.
