My students need a mobile teaching area that I can easily move from the carpet area to their station area. It will minimize transition times and help maximize learning.

My Students
Space is always a concern in a classroom and having enough board space and teaching space to utilize is a challenge. I am often writing on chart paper only to move and tape it to various corners of the room with multiple papers taped on top of each other. A mobile easel would alleviate the clutter.
My Kindergartens love learning about Science.
We are a STEM school (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) and use experiments and exploration to teach the fundamentals of these subjects all while incorporating it into our Language Arts curriculum. We read lots of big books and do a ton of interactive writing in all areas of Science. We have found that is an incredible way to instill a love for learning and education that lasts far beyond elementary school.
My Project
Having a mobile easel will give me more space for writing letters, words, and sentences for writing activities while at the carpet and at stations. It will also display the big books and poems we use every day to teach concepts of print and other early literacy skills. I can use the extra storage for easy access to the mini whiteboards and markers the kids use. The lined side of the easel will make teaching handwriting a breeze because the lines on the easel match the lines the kids have on their papers. It will also give them practice writing on the lines when we are doing interactive writing as a class or in small groups.
I am always having to adjust myself so that all the kids can better see what I'm doing while teaching.
We are always stepping over each other to get to the board to do writing and the big books are always flopping over while we are reading them. There would be so much more time involved in activities and participation if these obstacles weren't there. Having a mobile easel will provide our class with a much needed teaching tool to help maximize learning time.
