This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are four years old. For many, this is their first time in school. They are primarily English language learners. They are excited and love learning.
Young children learn best through hands-on activities and play.
My students learn letters, numbers, colors, and thematic topics by working together and having fun. Our school just opened and due to budgetary issues lacks many materials necessary in order to run rich classroom environments. Often we are limited due to a lack of resources.
My Project
This year I moved to a new classroom and was surprised to find that there is no easel of display for lessons and big books. It is not uncommon to come to a new room and find that materials are missing or have broken and not been replaced. However, this makes it hard to present lessons in the most effective way possible.
We would like a teaching easel that can be used as a white board, felt board, and big book display.
In prek our lessons are very interactive and a teaching easel made for early childhood allows the students to write, draw and read with the teacher. These easels are made at just the right height and have magnetic surfaces plus a felt board that can be used for a variety of activities and lessons.
More than half of students from low‑income households
