Teaching Easel for Easily Teaching

My students need a rolling cart with a teaching easel so that I may teach using the large post-it pads and so that they may teach each other in mini-lesson centers and feel like the teacher.

My Students

My students need their white board lessons from me saved for them a few minutes sometimes. When I have to erase... info is lost and or forgotten - well, not with this easel. Students can also use this to teach small groups of their own - which leads to critical thinking and metacognition!

I teach a wonderful group of first graders at a school in Southern California where 40% of the students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, and 100% of the students receive free breakfast daily.

Our school loves to integrate the arts and technology into our academics because we know that many students get inspired and thrive in an atmosphere where they can explore and have fun too. We are a school full of many cultures, and many students speak a language other than English at home.

My Project

I picture this easel traveling with me when I am teaching or with a student when he or she is teaching. They will be fully engaged teaching to each other and learning from one another when I am not the one using the easel. The reason that I want it for my whole-group or small-group teaching is that I can preserve a white board lesson on a large sticky-note pad instead of having to erase right away. I have seen and envied other teachers use of this valuable tool before, and the students seem to really love it - especially when they themselves become the teacher!
