This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have a great group of happy and excited students. They have gone through a lot this year emotionally, stressful, anxiousness, and anxiety. My students live in an area greatly affected with poverty, essential working parents and emotionally stressed.
My students have enjoyed mindful activities to achieve to combat stress and everyday circumstances.
They continue to learn how to apply activities that will regulate them as they continue to combat the current circumstances they find themselves. They are resilient and continue to put on a happy and energetic front every morning as we come together on zoom.
My Project
I will grow professionally by the use of professional development books as well as videos and activities. As I do this I will be better prepared to present the activities to my students as well as their family members.
By learning and studying the importance of Mindfulness for kids It will allow me to better understand my students emotional states and how to address their needs.
My students will benefit as we discuss how they have been applying the activities when they come across situations that may cause them to deregulate. Learning how to use these materials for journaling, discussion and circle time will allow me to make a formal assessment of my students' understanding of mindfulness.
