This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
These decodable readers will help my students with applying the phonics skills they are learning in the classroom. Not only will they be practicing the skills they have learned, but they will also have the chance to read books on their own when they become proficient in phonics skills.
Becoming a reader is an imperative part of learning and creates ownership in a student's education.
It is exciting to watch my students gain this important skill and show how proud they are.
My students have worked so hard this year gaining their phonics skills, but cannot apply them in actual books that they CAN read. I want to show them that I KNOW that they CAN read.
