My Students
My 3rd graders are bright, inquisitive, and tender-hearted. They are thoroughly enjoying being in the classroom after two years of online, homeschool, and hybrid learning. Because these children were in first grade during the beginning stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, they have missed critical literacy skills.
With your help, I can fill in the gaps the Corona Virus pandemic has caused in my students' learning.
These kids were dealt a bad hand, it is not anyone's fault they are behind. It is just what happened because the world was trying to navigate uncharted waters. We can create life-long learners together, these tools are the first step. I have no doubt that we can help these kids get to where they need to be to meet grade-level standards by the end of the year.
My Project
Every child in my class has a gap in their knowledge of language arts. These gaps stem from a lack of knowledge in phonics.
These tools will help me teach my students how to decode words in an engaging way!
The swat game will help students with their sight word recognition. The decodable readers are science-based practices that are designed to help struggling readers. Whisper phones are a great way to help kids increase their expression, accuracy, rate, and fluency while reading.
One of the best ways I can help my students fall in love with reading is by keeping books they enjoy in my classroom library. I have included graphic novels in this project because that is their favorite genre at this time.
