Teacher Professional Development: I need to attend this workshop to help improve my math teaching skills, and in turn help my students develop computational fluency and deepen their own mathematical content knowledge. <profdevpilot>
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. F.'s classroom raised $400

My Students
I teach 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade special education. My students are diverse, enthusiastic, and at varying levels in math. I wish for my students to work to their best abilities, and grow as mathematicians. My biggest challenge is meeting such a diverse range of learners at their individual levels.
My students have a range of abilities and challenges.
They are all creative, hard working, and full of potential. My school is a Title One school, with most students receiving free or reduced lunch. I spent the first five years of my career teaching under my general education license, and the last five years working as a special education teacher. I started special ed with a single grade class, then had a two grade class, and now a three grade class. There are many challenges to planning for such a mix of developmental levels. My students are amazing, and deserve my best.
My Project
My students will benefit from me taking this workshop because it will help me hone my teaching skills, and rethink the way I present important basics of math. Often my students come to me lacking skills that their same aged peers have already mastered. Because of their disabilities, they need specially tailored instruction, and this workshop will help me improve my math teaching skills.
A well prepared teacher provides effective instruction.
I need to take my teaching to the next level, and this course, taught at the school where I got my teaching degree, will help me improve my ability to teach three different grade levels, at the same time, each day. It is a difficult task, and one that I take seriously.
