Help me give my students a place to dry all of their artwork! This drying rack will accommodate all 600 of the students I teach in my elementary school.
I work with 600 elementary students in a suburban neighborhood. The kids love school and it is always bustling.
After 5 months of working virtually, my students are so excited to be back in school!
They have missed their teachers and friends. These kids are resilient! Even with all the changes, my students' enthusiasm is apparent.
My Project
I teach visual art in a school of between 600-700 students. Typically when students come to art, they come into the art room- a portable trailer located on the playground. Even with no sink, it is a magical place! We've turned it into a studio that students look forward to.
After being home for 5 months, students are most excited about painting, printing, and clay in art.
However, this year, to aid in contact tracing, I am placing all of my supplies on a cart and pushing into their classrooms. Storing art projects for all my students throughout the school is a challenge. Teachers do not have space within their classrooms to store drying projects. Having a drying rack I can wheel around the school (that has spring-loaded trays would so my youngest artists can lift them), would allow me to keep painting and printing with my students while we are not in the art room this year.
Despite all of the changes due to Co-Vid 19, I am determined to continue making magic in art. This drying rack would go a long way towards helping me reach that goal.
