Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are 21st Century learners who are eager to use all of the technology available to them! I teach 26 curious, fourth grade scientists in a small, Title I school that has an amazing and supportive principal.

My students are eager to learn, and their brains are sponges that absorb any and all information given to them.

Everything is a potential investigation or experiment to them, so I strive to provide my students with as many learning and project-based opportunities as possible. I constantly enhance the school curriculum and students' intrinsic motivation to learn more by infusing STEM correlations whenever possible.

Because of our small school size, funding levels are not as high as other schools in our area. Grants and projects like this one become an integral part of how I obtain resources to supplement learning experiences. I truly believe that the future lies in our children, that they have virtually unlimited potential, and my job is to enable them to reach it.

My Project

This project will provide my students with access to additional Chromebooks in our classroom, enabling them to research current events that affect our community and the world around them. My students are exposed to all types of events in today's news, but they only get to see a small amount, which does not give them the ability to gain the full understanding of what is happening. Having access to these Chromebooks will allow them to continue to research and find out what is going on, allowing them to develop their own understandings, opinions and ideas.

Teaching students about tolerance in the elementary classroom requires students to learn look at the world around them and develop their own ideas and feelings, but in a safe environment.

My main goal as a teacher is to provide my students with access to everything that allows them to learn and grow. Tolerance is something that every student needs to learn. It will help them to expand their minds and grow, which will benefit them in their future, and will help them learn how to work with others, understanding that everyone has their own opinions and ideas. These Chromebooks will also provide my students with the ability to create Powerpoint and other presentations record their ideas and thoughts and share them with others in our class and school community.

My students love to use technology every day, so finding a way to incorporate learning about tolerance with technology is a wonderful opportunity for my students. Thank you for considering to support my students through this project.
