Teaching a Love of Reading

Help me give my students beanbags for a comfortable seating area and books for an enjoyable reading experiences in the classroom.

My Project

Many of my students struggle with reading. It is my greatest hope to inspire a love of reading in each of them. I teach research-based strategies, and research on literacy instruction is increasingly emphasizing the importance of student interest, engagement, and choice. That's why, based on my students' interests and individual requests, I've compiled this list of books and flexible seating options for them to use each class.

My goal is to inspire each of them to develop a lifelong passion for reading.

I don't want my students to feel as though reading is a school-day obligation. Reading is a joy. It is both a perilous adventure and a peaceful comfort. As a teacher, I want my classroom to reflect those beliefs. These items will help me support my students on their journey toward a love of reading. Thank you.
