This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Socrates once said, "Education is the kindling of a flame, not the filling of a vessel." In our classroom, our flame is growing every day. We work hard together to understand and create. I want my students to not only be problem solvers, but world learners, with 21st century skills.

My nuggets are some of the smartest second grade students you will ever meet.

My goal for them, is to be able to research on their own, and find the answers to their own questions, by the end of the year. However, in a Title 1 school, with 98% of our population on free or reduced lunch, many of them do not have the means necessary to practice these skills at home. While we have some technology in our classroom, we do not have enough for them to be able to hone their skills. Due to some recent changes at our school, we no longer have full access to a computer lab. This leaves us without many options for practicing our technology skills. My students love hands on activities, and I would love to be able to give them more hands on technology experiences.

My Project

If we are granted these four tablets, our classroom will forever be changed! Not only will I be able to let students research, I can use different apps to help my struggling students as well. I will be able to differentiate for all learners, and in turn all of my students will have access to a fair education. We will also be able to take pictures for various S.T.E.M. experiments that we have planned for the school year. I would love my kiddos to be able to take and compare pictures. I would also love for my students to be able to make and record their own works. With these tablets, students can bring their own stories and creations to life. My students can experience a world, they never knew existed. They can build a create in new 21st century ways.
