it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are motivated, ambitious scholars who take college classes while still attending high school as a part of the regular coursework. Students at my school achieve great success despite the obstacles some face.
With the support of donors like you, the limited income of their households has less of an impact on their future.
My goal is to ensure that no student misses an opportunity due to lack of resources. My school is in a busy inner city neighborhood of New York City where it is easy to not treat school as a priority in favor of less honorable activities. My students, however, have chosen to set goals and use education as the vessel to accomplish them!
My Project
I would like to attend the ISTE conference this summer. I am constantly seeking out new ways to use technology in the classroom and to expand my professional learning community so that I stay current on the latest trends and best practices. I am the entire tech department in my school, so it is imperative that I stay abreast of the latest developments in the field. We are implementing an advanced placement computer science class next year, and I’d like to attend this conference to help me better prepare myself to deliver quality instruction. Specifically, I am looking to learn more about new software and programs that can help students learn coding, online programs that can support students at various coding levels, and technological aids in maintaining a differentiated classroom.
Anytime I can find ways for ALL of my students to curate and create their own knowledge and then share it with others, I believe I am providing them skills that will far outlast their high school education.
Today's students are preparing for a world that we can't even imagine yet. My goal is to give them a skill set that will, no matter their career choice, help them become productive, global citizens. Conferences, such as ISTE, help me find like-minded individuals with that same passion.
