This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a teacher for a special day program, I have an amazing opportunity to impact the lives of my students. We educate twelve students in a CORE autism program. Their grades span from TK-1. We follow the same curriculum as our regular peers, but also emphasize learning social skills, school routines, and the hidden curriculum. We need many different ways to learn including technology, hands-on materials, and opportunities to move.
My Project
Over the last year and a half, education made a dramatic shift from paper-based resources to virtual instruction. While many were skeptical, I saw my students engaged and breaking barriers through online activities that I created.
This project would give me an Apple MacBook Air to continue the work that started during virtual instruction as we prepare for an in-person return this fall.
Last year, I started using the Seesaw platform with minimal training. I'd love to attend more professional development about this site as well as our new curriculums (St Math, Engage NY and Foss Science) to be able to effectively teach my students.
