This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our middle school is on Skid Row in Downtown Los Angeles. My students encourage me daily with their unending resolve, continual resilience, and strength of will. They are so starved for knowledge and they have a great desire to learn, despite many traumatic circumstances. Truly, they are my inspiration.
Many students display negative classroom behaviors to get teacher and peer attention.
I want teachers to understand how our behavior can diffuse disruptive behavior in the classroom, and I want to provide them with tools and strategies to be the best classroom managers they can be.
My Project
All students can learn better in a calm and secure environment, where the teachers are clued in on and using productive classroom management. This book will help guide teachers in handling negative behaviors in the classroom. It provides research based approaches for immediately diffusing disruptive situations.
When disruptive behavior occurs, the teacher's first response can determine how quickly the situation is resolved.
When teachers are given the knowledge on how to deescalate, a better learning environment is created for all students. I want to train teachers using this text because it offers strategies and scenarios to help them become better education professionals.
