Teachers Can Learn, Too! (Orton Gillingham/Science of Reading)
I need to participate in IMSE's Phonological Awareness Training (Asynchronous) to gain skills to target and assess individual student needs and incorporate multi-sensory strategies in daily instruction.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a Dean of Instruction, part of my job is to assess the current abilities of my students and plan targeted instruction to help them continue to grow. The IMSE Phonological Awareness Asynchronous Course is a hands-on, interactive, and personalized class (delivered digitally) that provides educators with a deeper understanding of phonological awareness and its importance in learning to read.
Course material is grounded in the Science of Reading, the research that reading experts, especially cognitive scientists, have conducted on how we learn to read.
After participating in this training, I will understand how to assess and teach phonological awareness to students in all three tiers of RTI. In addition, I will be able to more effectively evaluate students in alphabet awareness, including letter recognition and sound recognition.
