Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have 18 energetic kindergarten and transitional kindergarten (TK) students who come to school with many questions and eager to learn. They are very creative and inquisitive. They enjoy reading, writing, and art, but most of all they love to learn through play!

For many, my classroom is their first school experience so I need to provide rich, developmentally appropriate, hands-on learning experiences that will ignite a love for learning.

Although some face challenges, they come to school ready to soak up new knowledge!

My Project

Every teacher wants their students to become life-long learners. I constantly remind my students that they should strive to learn more. I need to practice what I preach and continue to grow as an educator and reflect on my teaching.

National Board certification is a voluntary, rigorous process designed to recognize and retain accomplished teachers.

It forces teachers to look at their teaching in a new way. It requires a lot of reading, writing, reflecting, and self-critique. At the end of this journey, both the teacher and students win! Research confirms that students taught by NBC teachers learn more.

This process will help refine my teaching and become the educator my students deserve!
