Teacher With A Disability Returns To The Classroom
My students need a variety of hands-on activities and objects to help motivate them to learn and meet their sensory needs.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Magnan's classroom raised $553

My Students
My students have special needs and could really benefit if they had access and exposure to sensory objects to stimulate their needs. If they complete their work and they know there is a reward at the end of their learning and hard work they will always be motivated.
A little over three years, ago I was in a serious accident where I almost lost my life, but I lived.
I have to live with a traumatic brain injury. Because of this, I was unable to teach for two years. Now that I am finally back in the classroom, I need some help because I came back to a new environment where my students have many special needs and are low incidence. They are so loving and so caring and try so hard to accomplish the lessons I try to teach them.
My Project
If my students had access to sensory objects, I am sure their needs would be met and they can and learn every day with structured play and rewards. A sensory corner with appropriate supervision will help meet their needs.
Many of my students have major problems with attention and sitting still.
The requested Wobble Cushions can help them focus and still move. The chairs can help their need to fidget while working. For hands-on discovery, my students can do the activities in the Can Do! Science Discovery, Sound, and Color & Light Discovery kits. They'll use the 3-Letter Word Building Puzzles to learn vocabulary words. We also need a set of headphones for our technology devices.
These materials can help my students learn best because they will meet their sensory needs and be soothed after completing their work. For example, if they have things to touch their feeling needs will be met while working. Having these items can motivate them to work hard because they know they will receive a sensory reward after their work is done.
If my students can succeed in class they can succeed in life. These materials can help them be successful.
