This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My kindergarten class is a family. Having a classroom carpet brings us all together in one spot where we can share ideas and learn new concepts. A classroom carpet is essential for creating a loving and safe environment.
I am lucky enough to teach 30 kindergarten students in the heart of Silicon Valley.
They are excited to learn and look forward to school everyday. My students don't have a lot of resources at home, so I want their classroom to have everything they need to be successful.
My Project
Students will use the classroom carpet as a safe place to sit during whole group instruction. Having their own spot, on the carpet, limits distractions and gives each student an opportunity to become active listeners. Overall, creating an environment where each student can be successful.
I want each of my students to feel like a part of a family when they enter the classroom.
The carpet will give them a place to sit with their peers as they work on developing 21st century skills in a safe and loving environment.
