This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The materials for this project will make the world of a difference to my students lives and their math learning experiences. The Scholastic Math Magazine will expose my eight graders to math in the real world.
Some concepts in math can be challenging for students, but when they know where and when the specific math is used in the real world, their energy, perspective, and commitment to learning is life changing.
May time students will ask when and where the math concept is used. Even though, I begin each unit with a background of real world concepts, the scholastic math magazine provided excellent math background on real world time readings, current events using math, and is full of math content such as worksheets that go along the readings, videos, and games. My students are the world's future generation, and my goal is for them to become life long learners with a purpose.
