Teacher Tech to Take Us the Distance

Help me give my students a teacher who has the resources to meet their needs including an Ipad and tech support. The Ipad can later be used by students in the classroom when we return.

My Students

The students in my 4/5 combo class are a mix of learners from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds. Many qualify for free or reduced lunch and are using the Free Grab and Go Centers established by LAUSD for breakfast and lunch. My students are doing their best. We meet daily on Zoom for instruction, social emotional support and just staying connected.

As their teacher, I am doing my best to connect with my students using my school issued device.

However, the computer is the only Distance learning tech resource I have at this time.

My Project

These materials will allow me to support student learning because I am currently using a slightly older school-issued computer to do all my prep, planning and connecting with my students. The computer is good but has its limitations. It's battery runs out fairly quickly and it does not have the tools for me to do virtual backgrounds, etc.

Having an updated device would allow me me to explore other tech, have faster and more reliable access to apps.

It would also help me push myself as we dive deeper into distance learning. I would be able to put myself into virtual spaces and make the learning come alive for my students.

Once we return to the classroom, the Ipad would become a part of our classroom supplies and students could use it for their projects. I've requested a cover because even the most careful students might drop the device.
