My Project
I am a leader in my classroom and currently am in a leadership program at a local university. As I continue to grow, I find myself to be a leader for my colleagues. As I continue to teach, I find that there is not enough time for teachers to have training and time to discuss racial equity and diversity, but is imperative to the health of our class
I need an updated computer, Apple TV, and equity-focused curriculum to start a book club discussion group, attend diversity workshops online, and virtual racial justice training to implement in our classrooms.
If all goes well, it may start slow with reading our books and finding time to have discussions. Race is always a sensitive subject, and bringing awareness to the injustices in a variety of voices could allow others to share their voice and be a start to change. My hope is that we can attend online racial equity workshops as a team, or participate in diversity training online, and then take those lessons, skills, and strategies into the classroom.
