Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our daily schedule begins with our morning songs. The kids enjoy singing along to familiar songs that help promote oral vocabulary as well as helping to stimulate their minds to prepare them for the day.
I am a special education teacher working for a Title 1 school in the San Fernando Valley.
I work with special needs children with mild to severe disabilities. I received my BA and Education Specialist Teaching Credential from Cal State Northridge and I have been working as a teacher with the Los Angeles Unified School District for 4 years now. Before that I worked as a special education assistant for close to 5 years while I attended university.
My Project
I am currently enrolled in university courses to help improve my skills in technology. I am requesting a desktop computer for my own use in the classroom so that I may advance my knowledge in various computer programs and software. I would like to learn and have access to programs such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. I would be able to use the Excel program to organize student profiles and create spread sheets with my student's grades and scores. I would also be able to familiarize myself with the PowerPoint program to create presentations to introduce vocabulary and unit themes. I would like to explore and learn the Word Processing program to create my own worksheets, and assignments aligned to the topics and materials learned in class.
If I were to receive this resource, I would be able to build on, and further advance my knowledge of technology and computer based software.
This would allow me the opportunity to create a more organized setting as well as develop engaging lessons and ideas for implementing lessons which would ultimately benefit my students.
