Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are energetic kids with a love of learning. Over 90% of my students come from low-socioeconomic families. About 50% of them meet the definition of homeless. Their parents are struggling to pay rent and get food on the table. They are working necessary jobs for us and for their families. My kindergartners worry about their well being, and yet, they still want to create, read, and write! They want to learn and grow.

During this pandemic, my students are sheltering in place with basic classroom supplies and necessities and a small number of books.

I want them to continue to be safe and stay healthy as they work hard to learn to read, learn to use technology, and at the same time, learn Language Art, Math, and Science.

My Project

The Teachers Pay Teachers website has new digital resources for students for distance learning. I plan to purchase Digital Boom Cards, read-aloud books, and printables for students to read online or print and read again and again. I'll get the task cards to share with them online as they read and respond to these task cards, through our Zoom classes. I will purchase summer review skills packets that I can print and send to my students so they can continue to work from home. My students will be able to stay connected to school and keep learning.

My students will learn with incredible teacher-created lessons that can be used online and printed to use in their hands.

Many teachers are working tirelessly to help our children during this difficult time. We are working to teach through new technology, teaching families to use the internet, and various programs. In addition, we are reassuring families that we will be here to help them with their child's education. These gift cards and stamps will help me to stay in contact with my kids and continue to teach them. Thank you for considering my class for your donation.
