My ESOL (English for Students of Other Languages) students come from a variety of different backgrounds. Some are new to the country and others were born in the U.S. Many speak one or more languages in addition to English at home. The majority of my students come from low income backgrounds. Their families are hard-working and dedicated to providing the best for their children.
I work with students in grades K-5 on a wide range of language levels.
They are all excited to learn. They work hard to master Common Core standards in addition to learning English.
My Project
I am asking for materials from the website Teachers Pay Teachers. Materials on Teachers Pay Teachers are developed and tested by other teachers. They align to Common Core standards. I will specifically be getting materials to help my students with reading, writing, and vocabulary development.
Teacher made and tested materials will allow me to meet the individual needs of my students using high quality products.
This will allow me to tailor activities to students' different language levels. On Teacher Pay Teachers I will be able to get writing prompts, graphic organizers and leveled reading passages. My students will use these materials to work on reading and writing in an engaging manner. I will be able to select materials that have visual support for my ESOL students. I will also be able to choose content that matches what students are studying in their general education classroom at any given time.
