I teach a fun, active group of 25 second graders. They love to learn and work together. In second grade, we learn a lot of new skills every day. These students are eager to learn and apply their skills every day!
My students are on a variety of levels in the classroom.
They need engaging ways to practice the skills they are missing. My students that are reading above level need engaging ways to challenge their brains!
They need new and exciting experiences to keep them engaged in our curriculum. I like to provide them with experiences that will immerse them in the learning and teach them about the world we live in.
My Project
My students need high quality picture books to increase their love of learning and reading. When student's are engaged in an activity, they are more likely to remember it. Reading aloud a picture book is an easy way to engage student's instantly.
Everyone has fond memories of being around the carpet listening to a story being read.
When students are listening to a story they are engaged. When they can see themselves in the story, their engagement increases so much. They relate to the characters and are able to make connections. These connections engage them and help them remember the content. With these picture books, students will be engaged in the content and start to develop a love of reading!
