I work in a Title I school with students who come from a low socioeconomic background. Some of these students live in apartments while others live out of hotels. My school provides free breakfast to every student. We also offer free or reduced-price lunch to a majority of our students. In addition to this, we have items that are free to take throughout the school and from the guidance counselor which includes backpacks, hats, gloves, coats, books, school supplies, canned and boxed goods to eat over the weekend, and so much more. These students need all the support and resources they can get. It is so important for me to instill a love of learning at a young age.
My Project
I have always wanted to attend the Teach Your Heart Out Conference and I just found out they are coming to my city this summer! Their mission is to provide rigorous, meaningful, research-based strategies all while inspiring and rejuvenating educators (TYHO). Their mission aligns with my vision perfectly. I love being able to collaborate with other educators from near and far. I have also attended a conference called Get Your Teach On. I left feeling inspired and motivated to be the best I can for my sweet students. Please provide me the opportunity to spend some of my time off this summer at this rewarding conference.
