Help me give my students ways to increase their SEL, sense of belonging, and overall success. Consistent teacher interaction by teaching from the front gives students what they need to learn. They are eager to succeed!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Seventh grade is such a tough year especially when you are starting junior high during a pandemic! There have been many distractions over the last 18 months that have interfered with learning. And while my students come from all backgrounds, they are truly amazing people!!
Students have lost so much learning during the pandemic; as teachers, we need to raise the bar, continue the rigor, and teach perseverance.
One way we do this is a simple competition between classes where we share passing percentages. Our goal is for every student in every class to learn and pass! This encourages students to submit work, retake tests, and encourage classmates to do the same. The result is a class where everyone learns and inquires.
We are a 65% Title I school that serves the most amazing students. Title I means we are a school that is part of a federally funded educational program. This program provides supplemental funds to schools with the highest student concentration of poverty to meet school educational goals. We have a fantastic group of students from all walks of life who need obstacles removed to ensure learning. Thank you for helping me provide this to them!
My Project
The most effective way students learn is when the teacher is at the front of the room. Students want to feel they belong in the class, and they want someone to believe in them.
High student achievement begins with relationships!
We have spent our first week together doing just that. My students want to learn, they want help, and they are eager to succeed!
What better way to build relationships than by recognizing their birthday, something that elementary students are used to, and an adjustment junior high students. The desk allows constant and consistent interaction with students, and the magnetics allow us to share our success with each class's passing percentages. Please help my 7th graders get back on track & succeed!
