This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My kindergarten students start school with very weak letter recognition skills and I am looking for supplies that will be fun to use while they improve their skills.
I work in a low income, inner city neighborhood where most of my students are not exposed to literature early and then start school without the foundation to begin to learn to read.
I work in the library media center of a public Pre-K through 8th grade school.
My Project
My students will be able to get their hands on the letters and learn letter recognition in a more tangible way rather than using worksheets. As they progress during the year, they will be able to use the letter to make words and then sentences. My students will be excited about "playing" in the library and it will increase their learning too.
Your generous donation will enrich my students' learning experiences and provide a much needed boost to their reading skills.
Providing these hands on materials will inspire new uses for the materials as the students improve their skills.
