This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach an amazing RSP group of 2nd-5th grade in an inner city school where students are curious, creative and full of potential! every day, they come to school ready to learn but like many students they sometimes need a little encouragement to stay focused, make good choices and put forth their best effort!

To help motivate and reward positive behavior, we use a token economy system in our classroom.

Students earn tokens for showing responsibility, kindness, participation and effort and then trade the tokens (stickers) for rewards. One of the most requested and effective reward is snacks!

For many of my students a small snack can be a huge motivator. It gives them something tangible to work for and helps them stay on track. Keeping a steady supply of snacks can be costly for me and that's where your support can make a huge difference.

With your help, I can provide a variety of snacks that my students can earn through their positive actions. This simple incentive system helps reinforce life skills like goal setting, delayed gratification, and self regulation also making it more engaging and fun.
