My Students

My students stand out from the rest because of their unique abilities and personalities. We're a family. Day in and out I love, teach, welcome, visit, encourage, inspire, and take the time to just get to know them. Amazingly, they do the same in return for me and their classmates. It's a bond their parents really can't explain.

A bond that makes their parents wonder what is causing their child to beg to come to school and plead not to leave early.

A bond that leads their parents to want to become involved in our classroom and become a part of our "household" as we call it. We are a Title I school with economically disadvantaged students who are learning the importance daily of grit, passion, and perseverance.

My Project

School is back in, and I have an amazing group of students. As I lay the foundation for this school year, positive reinforcement is often needed. Of course, building relationships and giving positive reinforcements are vital, however, having a reward system in place works wonders as well. After all, who doesn't enjoy a good snack?

Our class honey money store is an asset because it allows students to learn skills that they will be able to use in the real world.

Students may earn "honey money" bucks for meeting expectations in and outside of our classroom. Then, they receive a paycheck based on the quality of their work (academic and behavior) weekly. Students are able to cash in their honey money daily for treats. This has greatly impacted my students' behavior. Many are greatful for this opportunity particularly when they dislike breakfast and/or lunch options. With your help, these snacks will continue to help provide a positive learning environment where every student can thrive.
