My 4th grade art students are in need of cardboard looms, a variety of yarn, and jumbo yarn needles to create a decorative yarn tapestry in our study of fiber arts.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Atkins's classroom raised $476
This project is fully funded
I teach K-5 elementary art. We are a high minority school with several students receiving free and reduced lunch. Asking parents to help out with supplies can be a struggle considering a lot of our students come from low income and or single parent families usually with multiple siblings in the family as well. My school has over 700 students and I receive a budget of less than a $1.00 a child to buy art supplies for my classes. If anyone could help out with this lesson, my 4th graders could continue their 4th grade social studies curriculm in visual art, as well as their homerooms.
The majority of my students do not have the opportunity to experience and take special art classes outside of the regular school day. Therefore, I try to expose them to a wide variety of mediums in my art classes. Unfortunately because of my budget, I am sometimes limited on what I can accomplish with them. Any outside help or donation I can get are always greatly appreciated.
I want my 4th graders to experience the art of weaving. The most economical and easiest way for a beginner weaver to produce a small tapestry is by using cardboard looms with a variety of yarns. Large blunt plastic needles will help my students to move and pull the yarn through the warp of their weavings. The needles will especially make the task easier for them therefore, they will not become frustrated as easily as just using their hands alone to weave in the yarn.
Your help will make it possible for my students to experience a new medium and art form that probably would not be possible for them otherwise with the small budget I have to work with. My goal is to give my students as much exposure to visual art as I possibly can. Your donation will be greatly welcomed and appreciated.
