My Project
I am changing roles and schools this year. I will be working with students to help build their social and emotional skills with themselves and their peers. I want to create a safe learning environment where students can have a place in times of crisis while at school. Using a sound machine will help create a calming environment with nature sounds playing that will help students relax and begin to focus on their learning. Each one of the social emotional prompt boxes will also help students match and sort feelings they may be experiencing at that moment. Then we can discuss and problem solve in each of the situations that each card in the boxes represent.
Tapping into our senses and feeling will help ground students back into the learning environment.
Students then can work towards recognizing their feelings in the future to prevent them from having another situation or crisis while at school. In these past two years with Covid, students' social emotional and their social skills with their peers have taken a hit. Each student needs to have the available resources to help build their confience and their social skills.
