My Project

After the past two years of learning during this pandemic, it's no surprise that there are some gaps in students' learning--especially our youngest learners who are developing their reading and writing skills. These magnetic alphabet kits will be used in conjunction with the cookie sheets (which the letters stick to!) to build simple words. Students have been building their phonemic awareness and phonics skills all year and are ready to "tap" out the sounds in words, "map" the position of each sound in the word, and "graph" it--a fancy way of saying matching the sound to the letter or letters needed.

These hands-on resources, along with some extra goodies from Teachers Pay Teachers that support these skills, will help the kindergarten, first, and second-grade students I provide academic intervention to build upon their foundational literacy skills so that they can blossom into strong readers and writers.

These materials promote multi-sensory strategies that achieve high levels of student engagement--and we all know that when students are actively engaged and invested in their learning, they make the most progress.
