Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am a School Social worker at a middle school in the heart of the South Bronx seeking funding for tangible rewards to distribute to students for their small achievements towards bigger goals.
My generation Alpha students have become children accustomed to immediate gratification and reward dependent due to their frequency of digital platforms causing them to respond less and less to verbal acknowledgement and praise for achievements.
When goals are set for positive behavior, prompt arrival to school, or improved attendance students want to be rewarded and are more motived to achieving these goals when there is a tangible incentive for them to receive. Having a supply of small rewards for students to receive when these goals are accomplished will facilitate increased motivation to work towards achievement of goals that are set.
