Taming Our Technology: Putting Everything in its Place.

My Students

My fourth grade students are from a high-poverty section of Philadelphia and they are not always given the opportunities of other children. Despite these challenges, my students come to school eager to learn.

It is my job to create a productive learning environment for my students that make them feel comfortable and gives them the motivation to succeed.

Fourth grade is such a transitional year for students when it comes to their learning. Students start taking ownership of their own learning and become more independent in preparation for middle school.

My Project

Last year, our school started incorporating Project Based Learning into our curriculum. The purpose of this curriculum is for students to work together to answer complex questions, and to provide opportunities to present their findings. My students decided last year to do independent research on preventing pollution. They created presentations and ultimately implemented a recycling program in the school. There were groups that created a power point presentation to demonstrate their ideas. They were restricted to one corner of the room because the technology was limited to that one corner.

By having the utility cart, our equipment will not only be together, but it will be mobile.

This will make it easier for groups to work together and make presentations in different areas of the classroom.
