My students need 125 pens, 10 reams of paper, and pocket folders for writing their journals.

Millions of thought are going through our minds...we need to write. I teach writing to urban ninth graders.

Students seldom take writing seriously because they see it as a task. However, if they are able to maintain a journal with their own thoughts and concerns, their writing can grow and develop.

When these students have the opportunity to re-visit their journal writing, they are able to improve the clarity of their writing. The journal also serves as a method for students to give voice to their emotions.

Your donation will not only build good writing skills that will follow them to college, but it will also provide a method for students to reach out to others.
