My students are excellent and curious readers! They are in the gifted and talented in many ways and are always looking to take the next step in their learning. Their love of learning is amazing! Their interest in learning always sparks a smile on my face, as well as motivates me to push them further.
In addition to being avid readers, they enjoy creating art, working together in groups, being helpful to one another, and being innovators in all subject areas.
My Project
I am looking to enhance the students' learning by teaching them how to apply the comprehension and inferential skills they learn with our curriculum materials into the stories they read on their own. By having a class set of books, they will able to learn how to use those skills alongside my teaching, which hopefully will carry over everything they open a beloved book.
"Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing," by Judy Blume, seems like a rite of passage for an elementary grade student, and what's more fitting than reading it as we enter the fourth grade?!
My students will love this exciting tale, which they will be able to relate to.
