This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Arizona students are up for the Critical Thinking Challenge!I service grades K through 5 in a school district that is in one of the worst money crunches ever. Many of my students are At-Risk, as well having gifted intelligence.
Our district does not have the luxury of spending money on extra supplies that fall outside the category of "standard" academics. As I service the gifted students in our district, I am limited as to what I can offer them on a daily basis. My students LOVE critical thinking games, and are interested in working with each other to figure things out.
The three critical thinking game books that I have chosen are ones that can be used over and over, not just for one day. There are a wide variety of activities that my students can try. The books are connected to science, math, and logic. I have also chosen two magazine subscriptions. As much as our district would love to supply these for my students, the money just is not there. By having the magazines on hand, we can discuss current events and look at literature in an analytical manner. I have selected two magazines to address both of these needs.
Your gracious contribution will make a HUGE difference in academic lives of my students. It is true that my students are gifted and have all passed the "state" test; however, it is VITAL that we (as teachers) keep these gifted students interested in school and learning.
