Have you ever been bullied? For most, if not all of my students, bullying was part of their everyday life. Most of them transferred to our school to feel safe and to get the education they need in a school that is focused on reducing bullying.
All of the students have their own stories about being bullied.
May of them did not go to school for months at a time because they did not feel safe. The goal of our school is to provide a safe and accepting environment for all students. The students who come to this school are black, white, gay, straight, gothic, Buddhist, Christian, or just plain unique and they are all welcome for who they are.
My Project
The Bully Project movie presents stories of students with a similar story to many of my students. It also gives a powerful message that students can raise awareness and begin to diminish bullying from American schools. This movie will help students to start thinking about what they can do as a victim of bullying to stop this cycle. It will get them talking about the issues and provide solutions to what can be done to stop bullying.
This project is extremely important to my students because they have the ability to make big changes in their community, city, state, and world.
Someone once said "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that every has."
