Taking Technology Into Our Own Hands

My students need a Chromebook to assist them with classwork and projects. With a Chromebook at their fingertips, their access to web-based applications will be enhanced.

My Students

In my classroom, my students learn differently from one another and require support to be successful. My students come to me daily to develop and improve their reading, writing and math skills.

Faced with their academic challenges, my students come to class smiling with an eagerness to learn.

Whether it is learning to read or learning how to manipulate fractions, the struggle for them is real. My students not only face academic challenges, they face real life issues on a daily basis. My school is a high-poverty, Pre K-8 school in an urban district. Many of my students are English Language Learners who come from a variety of different cultures and ethnic backgrounds. The majority of our students receive free or reduced lunch and do not have access to technology at home. Our school believes that with the right resources and high expectations, every student can and will achieve.

It is important that each student receives the same opportunities to be successful in their learning. My students' diverse challenges require multiple approaches to support.

My Project

I want my students to have a leg up before they leave middle school. It's a fact: technology is a part of our everyday life. The Chromebooks will enable my students to access applications that will address their learning needs while developing their skills. It is extremely important for them to be able to successfully grasp the curriculum.

This technology will enable them to express themselves in ways that will highlight their individual strengths, not their disabilities.

These laptops will provide daily opportunities for my students to increase their reading and math proficiency levels. I want my students to be able to take their knowledge and apply it to real-life situations.
