Being new to 7th Grade Core, I am just learning of all the AMAZING core novels we read and all the book club titles available! Our goal is to always gets books in the hands of students. There is nothing like getting lost in a book and escaping reality in the best way possible. With that being said, we are in much need of more books so that all 7th grade students have their own personal copy to have; I do not want students having to leave the book in the classroom, or worse, read off a PDF. NO way!!
Our goal is to add 70 books to the 7th Grade Core library so that ALL students have equitable access to our core novel, Refugee!
All means all! The classroom would not be an equitable environment if we do not provide students with the resources they need to be successful! Especially if we are trying to foster a deeper love of reading!
What makes our students, and Pine Valley Middle School so special, is the culture we have created on campus, and the respect we show one another. With that being said, we can also lend that into book talks as well! When every student has a book, students can flip through the pages and be reminded of major events or character connections! We listen to each other's perspectives, share experiences, connect with one another, all while showing respect and kindness! Two attributes Pine Valley Strives to attain!
