Taking Our Learning to the United Nations in New York!

My Students

Located in the center of New Haven, Connecticut among Yale University and Hospital my students are diverse, inquisitive, and proudly represents our school's motto of Panther Pride (Preparedness, Respect, Integrity, Discipline, and Excellence) throughout each school year. Regardless of which business course they are in (Business Concepts & Careers, International Business, Hospitality & Tourism) my students come to class ready to discuss real world events/news, ask questions that relate personally or academically, or are eager to collaborate among their peers.

Many students that are a part of one or more of my business classes are in pursuit of becoming active, productive, and professional members of the community.

As a magnet school, my classes and I reflect upon our school's mission statement of "...providing an educational environment that establishes rigorous standards of academic performance with a focus on health and business." Being among students every day that are eager to learn and want to prepare themselves for the near future of working in the real world or attend higher education is a part of why being a teacher is more than content but also seeing the next generation grow, learn, and teach others!

My Project

Health care and business students will be transported to the United Nations in New York to take a private tour of the international facility.

Students will learn the symbol organization's ideals and interests of the world's population, in particular, the poor and vulnerable.

The one-hour guided tour offers an exciting opportunity to discover UN Headquarters, which would take us on a brief journey through the corridors of international diplomacy. Students will learn about the history and work of the United Nations and visit the famous General Assembly Hall and Security Council Chamber (meetings permitting). Students are excited and hope they get the opportunity to visit this international facility this school year.
