This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

You are sitting in a classroom. Everything around you is gibberish. You want to give up, but your teacher and classmates have inspired you to learn this new language. Soon enough, your classroom will feel just like home. I want to speed up this process for my students.

My students attend a great school in a low-income, mostly Latino community.

My students are ELL students who are being immersed in the English language and still shown just how cool and useful being dual language is! 3rd grade is a key year and learning how to read is crucial.They need all the help they can get as they acquire vocabulary and embark on the courageous path of communicating in a different language.

My Project

I am requesting 2 Surface RT tablets. These tablets have a full fledged browser so that with my guidance, students will be able to access the amazing resources the web has to offer. On top of that, and at no extra cost, they also include Microsoft Office 2013! As a center, I will find or create activities that students can complete. The possibilities are endlessly fun. They will be acquiring new language and won't even know it until they begin to use their new vocabulary. To top it all off, for the price of 1 iPad I can get 2 of these.

This technology will be sure to complement my students' hard work and get them closer to the mission of talking, reading, and understanding English.

Before I know it, they will be in college.
