My students are kind and supportive of each other. They want nothing more than to have fun and see everyone succeed.
Eager to learn and try new things, my students are inquisitive and full of joy.
COVID-19 has been extremely hard on many of them due to the financial hardships and loss of family members. COVID-19 exclusions are happening all the time and my students need the opportunity to bring music home while they wait to come back to school.
My Project
COVID-19 restrictions have made the use of wind instruments quite challenging. We now have approval to use recorders again, however students are still being excluded due to COVID exposure.
If my students all have their own recorders they can continue their studies at home while everyone else continues at school.
Recorders increase music literacy by supporting the students in reading both pitch and rhythm. It also increases students' reading skills by supporting tracking from left to right and it even helps develop fine motor skills. A recorder is just the start to developing an appreciation for wind instruments.
